Abstract:In the context of digitization, views on the influence mechanism of the different dimensions of knowledge on the innovation performance of enterprises vary. In order to utilize and revitalize existing knowledge resources to enhance digital innovation performance, based on the knowledge base theory, a two-way fixed-effects model is constructed with panel data from 4 103 enterprises in China during 2010-2021 to explore the impact of the different nature of knowledge resources on the organization's digital innovation performance. Meanwhile, the moderating role of contextual variables such as knowledge restructuring capability in the relationship between traditional knowledge resources and digital innovation performance is discussed. The empirical evidence shows that: knowledge scope has a positive effect on the digital innovation performance of enterprises, and knowledge depth has an inverted U-shaped effect on the digital innovation performance; utilized knowledge restructuring ability plays a positive moderating role between knowledge scope and digital innovation performance, and creative knowledge restructuring ability also plays a positive moderating role between knowledge depth and digital innovation performance. The utilized knowledge restructuring capability plays a positive moderating role between knowledge scope and digital innovation performance, and the creative knowledge restructuring capability also plays a positive moderating role between knowledge scope and digital innovation performance. To enhance digital innovation performance, organizations need more heterogeneous knowledge and cannot be overly confined to a certain knowledge domain. To achieve more efficient operations and business goals, organizations should explore richer knowledge domains and diversify their heterogeneous knowledge, and effectively integrate and match their own resources and capabilities.
