Abstract:The digital economy, as a new growth driver for economic development in the new era, is an important engine for promoting the revitalization of rural industries. Based on panel data from 30 provinces in China from 2013 to 2022, the article measured the comprehensive index of the development level of digital economy and the revitalization level of rural industries, and empirically tests the mechanism, mediating effect, and heterogeneity characteristics of the digital economy's impact on rural industry revitalization. The research shows that: 1) The digital economy can significantly promote the revitalization of rural industries. In addition, the impact of the digital economy on the three dimensions of rural industry revitalization is roughly equal, with the strongest promoting effect of the digital economy on the efficiency of rural industries. 2) Resource allocation plays a mediating effect between the digital economy and rural industries, and the digital economy can indirectly promote the revitalization of rural industries by improving efficiency of resource allocation; The degree to which the digital economy promotes the revitalization of rural industries through optimizing resource allocation varies among the three dimensions, with resource allocation playing the most mediating role in the impact of the digital economy on the rural industrial competitiveness. 3) There are regional differences in the direct and indirect effects of digital economy on the revitalization of rural industries, and the direct and indirect effects of the eastern and central regions are better than those in the western region.
