Abstract:In the face of the onslaught of a new wave of technological revolution and industrial transformation, both the national and urban innovation-driven development models and pathways will undergo innovation. Science fiction, as a cultural genre symbolizing technological innovation and imagination, demonstrates unique vitality in an era of deep integration of technology and culture. Currently, the development of science fiction in China is burgeoning, receiving significant attention from both the national and local levels. However, theoretical and practical efforts concerning the evaluation of regional science fiction development levels remain at a nascent stage. This study originates from three dimensions: the ecological creativity of science fiction, the development of the science fiction industry, and the empowering capabilities of science fiction. It integrates the complex connotations of each dimension with the accessibility of relevant data to establish a regional-level evaluation index system for the development level of science fiction. This system was applied empirically to 20 cities including Beijing, Chengdu, Shanghai, and Shenzhen. This study provides a reference for conducting related evaluation activities to a certain extent, thereby better promoting the improvement of regional science fiction development levels.
