Abstract:As the main carrier of basic research in China, universities are the key driving force for promoting the high-quality development of the real economy sector and building an innovation system with Chinese characteristics. However, questions such as "how does the supply of basic research in universities promote the development of new quality productivity?" still require further theoretical interpretation and mechanism exploration. Therefore, based on the theory of Chinese path to modernization, this study carried out a hybrid study of exploratory cases and configuration analysis. The results showed that: (1) the theoretical connotation, structural dimensions, and observation methods of new quality productivity were revealed through exploratory case studies; (2) The supply of basic research in universities can be based on the "reservoir" effect of knowledge carriers, promoting the high-quality development of the real economy sector and the construction of a harmonious society through the knowledge transfer process between the "knowledge pool" and the "talent pool", and promoting the development of new quality productive forces. The development of the digital economy is an important boundary condition in this implementation mechanism process; (3) Two high-performance new quality productivity development plans have been proposed from the perspectives of "talent aggregation" and "resource aggregation". According to the research findings, it is suggested that relevant governments should strengthen top-level design and financial support, further build core competitiveness in basic research, overcome bottleneck problems, and accelerate the development of new quality productivity.
